Advent calendars have a century-long history. A German lady created the first advent calendar around 1900 for her son, who in the weeks leading up to Christmas was anxiously awaiting what Jesus would bring him. It began to spread in Hungary at the beginning of the 20th century.
Nothing stirs up holiday nostalgia for many individuals like an Advent calendar. The advent adventurer comes in various handmade and contemporary forms, and creativity knows no limitations. However, candy-filled variations are also sold in stores.
