Nearly 80% of the world’s population consumes some form of caffeine on a daily basis. Are you one of those people who can’t get out of bed without a coffee, and after 3-4 cups during the day you can still barely keep your eyes open? We are here to let you know that according to research, if you are sleepy, an apple or 10 minutes of going up the stairs gives you more energy than 50 milligrams of caffeine.
50 milligrams of caffeine is just half a cup of coffee. One cup contains about 95-100 milligrams of caffeine. Caffeine itself affects exclusively on the central nervous system and gives the feeling that you are fit and alert. However, it does not give you real energy, since it contains neither calories, nor sugar, nor any other carbohydrates the body could use as fuel. If you add milk, cream or sugar to your coffee, the amount of calories you consume increases a bit, but you are still far from providing your body with as much energy as eating a fruit, such as an apple, or a little exercise could give.
Therefore, if you are tired, researchers suggest 10 minutes of climbing stairs works better than an espresso.
