Hungary wants to be a climate neutral country by 2050, which means it will not emit more carbon dioxide than its forests could absorb. Over the next 30 years, 2-2.5 % of GDP will have to be invested annually in environmental protection to achieve climate neutrality by 2050.
By 2034, all domestic households would be independent of gas-based cooking, as well as gas would not be an available energy resource in new buildings.
By 2030, at least 200 thousand households would be disconnected from the natural gas system. By 2034, gas will be removed from every Hungarian household’s kitchen. From 2025, gas will be banned as an energy source in new buildings.
