Should the state and local government play a greater role in helping refugees? – A survey by Pulzus

The war in Ukraine has forced millions of people to leave their homes, with some seeking security elsewhere in their own country and others in neighboring nations. The long-term provision of accommodation and food for refugees arriving in Hungary is a huge difficulty for the civilian population.

Ambrus Kiss, deputy mayor of Budapest, indicated that the Metropolitan Municipality officially accommodates only 270 Ukrainian refugees.
However, according to the Meta’s data, both the UN and UNICEF conclude that tens of thousands of Ukrainian reside in Budapest.

In our Pulzus survey, we asked our users what role do they think the municipal and public sector should play in helping refugees? Or is this completely the scope of NGOs and citizens?

Do people think the municipal and public sector should play a greater role in helping refugees, or is it enough what civilians provide?

35% of respondents believe that the state should play an equal role with NGOs in aiding refugees. 22% believe that helping refugees should be the completely responsibility of the state and the local government, and that this burden should be removed from civilians.

Who do you think is responsible for supporting refugees coming from Ukraine?
