How should people who heat by burning waste be helped? – A survey by Pulzus

More and more people save on heating by burning waste. Many families in Somogy County who are in extreme poverty also use plastic, shoes, and clothing as fuel instead of firewood, which greatly pollutes the environment. This is a recurring problem in several other settlements every year.

The price of firewood was not affected by the reduction in overhead. The majority of poor households use wood for heating; thus they are the ones who are most impacted by this price increase.

Despite the fact that reports appear one after the other, which prove that there is nothing more harmful to our health than burning garbage. Unfortunately, a large portion of the population still chooses to burn trash from their homes, waste from the wood industry, and broken windows because they have no other choice.

In a Pulzus survey, we asked users to express how they would assist low-income households that heat their houses with garbage.

49% of respondents said they would provide them with firewood, while 69% said they would find them jobs.

What do you think—how can we assist individuals who, in the absence of a better solution, burn used clothing and plastic to prevent their entire family from freezing to death?
