Regulation of energy use in Spain – A survey by Pulzus

Spain has made substantial efforts to reduce the energy crisis by introducing air conditioning and heating controls. The set of regulations that came into effect due to the government’s action program is meant to carry out the European Union’s gas-saving plan. The EU’s program was approved at the end of July to stop the looming energy crisis caused by the war in Ukraine.

According to the energy-saving measure, the lighting of all storefronts must be turned off after 10 p.m., and public and commercial buildings cannot be cooled below 27 degrees Celsius in summer and heated above 19 degrees Celsius in winter. Offices, stores, pubs, and restaurants as well as public transportation and transportation hubs will all be subject to the newly implemented regulations.

Spain started taking steps to lower the energy costs of public buildings at the end of May. In our survey, we polled Pulzus users to find out what they would think if the Hungarian government attempted to reduce energy use by enacting similar regulations.

30% of the respondents said they would support efforts to reduce energy consumption.
