Would you agree to surgery if it was performed with a robotic surgical device? – A survey by Pulzus

In Budapest’s Semmelweis University clinic, medical professionals began performing robotic surgery.
Nine months after the Da Vinci Xi surgical robot’s brief premiere at Semmelweis University in August 2021, it was already in use.

In addition to general surgery, the robotic device will be utilized roughly 400 times a year for gynecological, urological, and ear, nose, and throat treatments. The device’s robotic arms can rotate up to 520 degrees, enabling it to reach areas and make precise movements that the surgeon could not make during an open procedure with his free hands or a laparoscope. The technology allows the surgeon to visualize the surgery region at least ten times larger and in three dimensions.

In our Pulzus research, we are currently asking our users if they would consent to a procedure if a robotic surgical tool was used in place of a human hand.

32% of respondents said they would be okay with a robot doing their procedure.
