Plastic waste causes a problem all over the world. It is present thousands of meters deep in the oceans and thousands of meters high in the mountains. Environmentalists have been fighting for decades against the distribution of single-use plastic products that pile up to mountains of garbage. The goal of those committed to climate protection is to move to a so-called circular economy as quickly as possible.
The sale of plastic straws, cutlery and several other single-use products have already become prohibited in Hungary. Following the 2019 directive of the European Commission, from July 3 of 2021, the distribution of certain single-use plastic consumer goods (e.g. straws, stir sticks, cutlery, etc.) has become prohibited in Hungary.
In the Pulzus application, we asked our users whether they have experienced the disappearance of plastic consumer goods from restaurants during the last 5 months.
35% of respondents have already seen that single-use plastic products are starting to disappear. But they believe there is still room for further reduction, as unfortunately some of these products have not vanished completely from all places.
Have you experienced the gradual disappearance of such products in catering establishments in recent months?
