What is the new US abortion law? – A survey by Pulzus

On June 24, the US Supreme Court invalidated the 1973 Roe vs Wade decision that granted women the right to abortion on a federal level. Thus, states are now free to regulate abortion any way they please, they can even ban or restrict it.

Republican-majority states have been demanding the Supreme Court to overturn the almost 50-year-old Roe vs Wade decision for years now. Pro-Life people believe that life should be respected from the moment of conception and should not be extinguished by human will. Pro-Choice Democrats, on the other hand, are of the opinion that an expecting woman has the right to make a decision about her own body, and are also likely to see how much she would be able to raise a child safely in her current life situation.

Whichever side they identify with, it is undeniable that this new provision could change the lives of millions of women in the United States. In addition, the decision may have an impact on the results of the interim congressional elections, as citizens will respond to the constitutional amendment made on the basis of Pro-Life thinking in the voting booths. Thus, the composition of the Senate, which has been dominated by Republicans for decades, may also change.

In Hungary, abortion is legal under the conditions established by the Act LXXIX of 1992.
