In order to encourage a more equal representation of the genders on management boards of publicly traded firms, EU legislation has been passed by the Council of the European Union.
Thus, new regulations will assist in removing the barriers that women frequently experience in the workplace.
The recent declaration states that by 2026, women must hold at least 40% of non-executive director posts in publicly traded corporations. Companies are required to report once a year on the gender representation in their management teams as well as the steps they are doing to meet the 33 and 40 percent targets.
