In many Budapest and countryside schools, epidemiological regulations have been tightened recently. Schools have made this decision because of the latest wave of the pandemic, and also because the number of students missing due to upper respiratory symptoms is increasing.
In most places it is mandatory to wear masks – in corridors, washrooms, canteens and halls. In some schools it is recommended to cover the mouth and nose even during classes.
The head of each educational institution can decide on the rules of wearing masks at their own discretion. However, it is important to take into account the local characteristics of the school, the age of the children concerned, the appropriate mask use that can be expected of them, the time teachers and children spend in school, and the risk for spreading infection without wearing a mask.
We asked users of the Pulzus application if they would make mask usage mandatory in all schools.
44% of respondents would oblige children to wear masks at school.
