The fashion industry has been expanding at an extraordinary rate in recent years. On the other hand, the clothing industry is an extremely environmentally burdensome and exploitative manufacturing sector.
We scarcely think about the conditions in which our clothes are made and what their fate will be later, when we get bored of them. One of the sad realities behind the fashion industry is a significant environmental impact from planting genetically modified cotton that grows almost incessantly. In order for cotton to bear fruit, it must be regularly sprayed with pesticides. Meanwhile, leather industry produces fifty million liters of water contaminated with toxins each day.
In our research, we asked users of the Pulzus app, would they be willing to stop buying new clothes for a year, if they would contribute to environmental protection?
61% of respondents think they could definitely stop buying fast fashion clothes.
