During the holidays, the wastage of edibles only grows further; in Hungary, we often prepare more food than we can consume. That is why a lot of food frequently ends up not in our stomachs but the trash.<\/p>\n<p>In Hungary, a total of 1.8 million tons of food is thrown away each year, which means 68 kg of food per capita and an average of 270 kilograms per family.<br \/>\nAccording to UN statistics, nearly a third of all food produced worldwide is wasted.<br \/>\nBy 2030, this problem could worsen, as food waste generated annually could increase by as much as a third.<\/p>\n<p>For one of the most significant problems in the world, food wastage, more conscious consumption may be the solution.<br \/>\nHouseholds are responsible for about 40 per cent of food waste.
