Can Hungary be deprived of its right of veto in the European Union? – A survey by Pulzus

According to Anna Lührmann, Germany’s minister responsible for European affairs, unanimous EU decision-making in foreign policy and security matters should be abolished.

Furthermore, the minister said that Germany would support depriving Hungary of its veto rights within the EU. The politician backed this claim by pointing out that Hungary had already blocked a number of significant Council of Europe decisions.

Germany also supports the European Commission’s proposed sanctions against Hungary in the rule of law procedure.

In our research, we asked users of the Pulzus application whether, in their opinion, Hungary could really lose its right of veto in the European Union.

According to 54% of respondents, yes, this could happen.
