Would it be a good idea if sexual comments towards women and the rougher cases could be punished? – A survey by Pulzus

No one appreciates comments from strangers that are occasionally unpleasant, but at least go beyond the bounds of good taste. This is true even when nice compliments and grateful but never intrusive stares can go well with ladies. However, it’s terrible that it’s not unusual for women to be whistled at, booed at, and other uninvited expressions of opinion accompany them. Sadly, there are even more impolite incidents. Some people merely tell you that you’re attractive and smile at you. Others encourage you to smile more.
Public space legislation in Great Britain allows for the fine-based punishment of impolite, sexually provocative remarks made in public. This is how a man in London ended up paying the equivalent of 45,000 British pounds for making a careless and likely offensive remark to a woman who passed him on the street.
In the Pulzus study, we questioned the female participants about their opinions on whether harsher, more sexual remarks in public should be punished. 36% of respondents prefer to support the criminalization of more serious offenses, while 52% absolutely agree with it. Only 2% of respondents would not punish this at all, and 6% of respondents rather disagree with this. 4% of those who read the question were unable or unwilling to provide an opinion.
Do you believe that punishing sexual remarks made toward women and more serious offenses would be a good idea?
