The value of the minimum wage in Hungary is at an all-time low. We passed three other EU nations—Romania, Latvia, and Bulgaria—a year ago. Even in Romania today, a minimum wage worker makes more money, net or otherwise.
The Hungarian minimum pay was converted to 578.74 euros based on the most recent Eurostat data, making it the second-lowest among the member states that have a required minimum wage. The only recipients of 398.81 euros less than the Hungarian amount are those who work in Bulgaria.
Due to the persistent forint weakening and the surrounding countries’ pay catching up, even though salaries are rising in Hungary, the minimum wage still reflects a lower amount when compared internationally. The government may significantly benefit from this since it makes it more appealing for foreign businesses to invest in Hungary, where labor costs are falling thanks to the workforce in Hungary.
We polled Pulzus users to determine what they thought the Hungarian minimum wage should be.
A salary beyond 900 euros, according to 28% of respondents, would be a respectable minimum wage in our nation, while a salary between 700 and 800 euros, according to 25%, would be acceptable. According to 21%, the optimal wage would be in the range of 800 and 900 euros.
