Russian citizens began to flee the country in large numbers as soon as the partial mobilization of the reserves was announced. According to Hungary’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Péter Szijjártó, Russian nationals can still apply for Schengen visas here.
The visa arrangements with Russia were suspended by the EU’s foreign ministers a few weeks ago, which makes acquiring visas more challenging but does not completely rule out the option. Nevertheless, some EU members have made the decision to refuse all visas to Russians within their own borders.
